Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is a proven and effective way to treat trauma. At Aloft Healing Studios, we offer EMDR therapy near Kennesaw, Georgia. We help clients process painful experiences and negative beliefs that hold them back. Whether you struggle with PTSD, anxiety, or past relational trauma, EMDR therapy can lead to deep and lasting healing.
How Does EMDR Therapy Work?
EMDR therapy uses bilateral stimulation, often through guided eye movements, to access opposite sides of the brain. This is the same process that occurs during REM sleep, when the brain processes and integrates memories. By reprocessing “stuck” or distressing memories, EMDR allows the brain to resolve the experience and restore emotional balance.
During an EMDR session:
Triggers: Your therapist will help you identify traumatic memories, triggers, and negative beliefs.
Bilateral Stimulation: Eye movements, tapping, or sounds to access the traumatic memory.
Integration and Healing: The memory is integrated more healthily, reduces emotional distress, and fosters positive beliefs.
