Lauren Aguon
I am an herbalist, Ayurvedic nutritionist, yoga teacher, energy healer, social worker, Mom, veteran spouse, and poet. I believe in the healing power of connection and the importance of allowing clients to find their unique path, while I journey alongside them.
My work currently focuses on providing herbalism and Ayurvedic nutrition consultations, leading trauma-informed group and individual yoga classes, and energy healing. I often incorporate Tarot, crystals, aromatherapy, Chakra work, and Eastern philosophy. I am passionate about creating safe, supportive spaces where clients feel seen and heard. I encourage clients to find the practices that best resonate with and support their spiritual, physical, mental, and emotional bodies.
In addition to my holistic work, I am completing my Master's in Social Work (August 2025) and will begin working with clients in individual therapy sessions following my licensure.
Education, Career Path, and Training
It has been a long and winding path to my current role(s). I graduated in 2008 with a double Bachelor's degree: a B.A. in English and a B.S. in Architecture. Recognizing that writing poetry might not keep me financially solvent, I pursued and obtained a Master’s in Historic Preservation in 2010. I worked as an archivist for over 10 years, creating a library of documents related to a historic apothecary (where my love of herbalism began to grow fully) in Alexandria, VA. I decided to open my own business concurrently and spent 5 years running a historic preservation consulting business and overseeing historic properties in Annapolis, MD. Wanting to find a balance for the work stressors, I fully pursued my yoga certifications, energy training, and herbalism education. In 2019, I opened my herbalism online storefront, where I provided herbalism consultations and products to customers. I continued to operate my business throughout 2023, expanding in 2020 to offering energy, sound, crystal healing, and tarot and chakra readings. Upon my husband’s separation from the military, we moved from Virginia Beach to Atlanta. I chose to close my businesses and focus entirely on my family and a new direction of study.
After meeting my husband in 2016, I saw the struggles that members of the active-duty and veteran military populations had in receiving holistic mental health care and treatment. This inspired me to change my path and begin working toward attaining my Master’s in Social Work in 2022. Throughout my program, I have completed my internship at a private practice, focusing on acute care and direct clinical practice. I have also volunteered with the Veteran Spouse Network, leading peer support groups and facilitating one-on-one peer sessions for fellow veteran spouses. Through my social work education, I have been trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Written Exposure Therapy, Prolonged Exposure Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Conjoint Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Child-Centered Play Therapy, and Somatic Experiencing.
In addition to my social work education, I am currently the product specialist and marketing manager for a large in-person and online yoga studio based in Austin, TX. I continue to work with the Veteran Spouse Network and run a virtual support group for veteran spouses. I also provide virtual yoga and meditation classes for veteran spouses, as requested.
If you’ve made it this far, you have likely intuited that I am a lifelong student and truly believe in caring for and supporting others in their healing journey. I believe in bringing light, humor, and reflection to the healing journey, and I continue to practice the modalities I work in daily while staying within the process of my own self-healing. In my free time, you will likely find me either playing Mario Party with my family, learning a new language, or going for a run with our dogs.
